| The traditional, chronological, fact-filled resume that has been a standard tool for the job-seeking middle manager and executives is no longer effective and seldom gets by the initial screening level. In its place is a resume, a cleverly written document that is structured to get screeners and obtain an interview for the applicant. The powerful resumes open the door. |

| 1 | Keep it short. |
| 2 | Date your letter. |
| 3 | Check for spelling errors or typos. |
| 4 | Avoid the overuse of "I". |
| 5 | Customize the letter for the company. |

| Clear concise terms with the proper verbiage is important. Active verbs should be used. Cut out pronouns (eg. I, we, they). Such terms are: accomplished approved computed acquired controlled created launched cut selected managed specified designed marketed minimized tested eliminated modified trained enhanced negotiated originated unified implemented presented upgraded initiated processed verified instituted visualized. |
